Saltmarsh - British Wildlife Collection: Vol. 5 Due Soon
In this welcome addition to the British Wildlife Collection series, Clive Chatters celebrates some of our most exciting and exceptional saltmarshes. As well as providing key nursery sites for fish, feeding grounds for wintering birds and breeding grounds for waders, saltmarshes support a huge variety of invertebrates and are excellent spots for observing wildlife. Clive will be visiting us at NHBS, and so all pre-orders for this book will be signed by the author.
Made by NHBS – The Ichthyoplankton Net
Earlier this year we were contacted by the Zoological Society of London (ZSL) who were interested in working with us to make a bespoke aquatic survey net. Read more about the design of this net and the Thames-based juvenile fish surveys that they are now being used for on the NHBS blog.
UK Fungus Day 2017
The 2017 UK Fungus Day will take place on Sunday 8th October and is organised to raise awareness and educate the public about the importance of fungi. In our recent blog article you can find out more about this event and discover some of our favourite fungi ID guides.

Tropical species under-represented in botanic gardens
Botanic gardens are vital for conservation of plant diversity, but a recent study has shown that temperate species are disproportionately collected in comparison to tropical species.
