Established in 1954, the Mammal Society is a charity advocating science-led mammal conservation, leading efforts to collect and share information on mammals, encourage research to learn more about their ecology, distribution and contribute meaningfully to efforts to conserve them. They support an ever-growing network of experts and enthusiasts all working to survey, monitor, research and conserve mammals and secure their future in the British Isles & Ireland. Royal Society for the Protection of Birds

The RSPB is the largest wildlife conservation organisation in Europe and has over one million members. Their work focuses on the species and habitats that are in the greatest danger and is driven by the passionate beliefs that birds and wildlife enrich people's lives, the health of bird populations is indicative of the health of the planet and we all have a responsibility to protect wildlife. British Trust for Ornithology

The BTO has existed since 1933 as an independent, scientific research trust, investigating the populations, movements and ecology of wild birds in the British Isles. Their speciality is the design and implementation of volunteer wild bird surveys delivered through a partnership between large numbers of volunteers and a small scientific staff. This work makes a direct and vital contribution to bird conservation, by enabling both campaigners and decision-makers to set priorities and target resources. The Ray Society

The Ray Society was founded by George Johnston in 1844 to honour the name of John Ray (1628-1705), one of the most eminent and influential naturalists of his time. Ray published works on birds, mammals, fish, insects and plants, bringing order to the chaotic mass of names in use by contemporary naturalists. The Ray Society is not about John Ray himself but exists to publish books on natural history with special, but not exclusive, reference to the flora and fauna of the British Isles. Bat Conservation Trust

The BCT is the only UK organisation solely devoted to the conservation of bats and their habitats. They work towards a future where everyone, everywhere can enjoy watching and hearing bats as part of their natural environment. With the dedicated support of its members, volunteers and local bat groups, the organisation helps bats through practical conservation projects and research, by supporting and educating people who find bats in their property, and by encouraging everyone to appreciate and enjoy these fascinating animals. BirdLife International is a global partnership of conservation organisations that strives to conserve birds, their habitats and global biodiversity, working with people towards sustainability in the use of natural resources. Wetlands International

Wetlands International is the only global NGO dedicated to the conservation and wise use of wetlands. They work globally, regionally and nationally to promote the conservation of wetlands in a way that benefits biodiversity and human well-being. Wetlands International is an independent, not-for-profit, global organisation, supported by government membership from all continents of the world, extensive specialist networks and volunteers. Royal Dutch Natural History Association (KNNV Uitgeverij)

KNNV Uitgeverij was set up more than 30 years ago by the Royal Dutch Society for Natural History to boost public involvement with wildlife and conservation. Describing its books as ‘essential tools for passionate enthusiasts and professional field naturalists’, they publish field guides, handbooks and atlases detailed enough to be used for environmental education, conservation and research. International Ecology Institute

The International Ecology Institute (ECI), located some 55 km south of Hamburg, Germany was founded in 1984. The ECI is a non-profit organisation of research ecologists dedicated to fostering ecological knowledge and awareness. They strive to further the exchange of information between marine, terrestrial and freshwater ecologists, to promote advancement in environmental research and to draw the attention of scientists, administrators, politicians and the general public to important issues resulting from this research. Joint Nature Conservation Committee (JNCC)

JNCC is the statutory adviser to the government on UK and international nature conservation. Its work contributes to maintaining and enriching biological diversity, conserving geological features and sustaining natural systems. JNCC delivers the UK and international responsibilities of the four country nature conservation agencies: Council for Nature Conservation and the Countryside, Natural Resources Wales, Natural England and Scottish Natural Heritage.
