Salamander habitat saved in Guatemala
Following a purchase supported by the World Land Trust and other funders, the last remaining habitat of two rare species of salamander has been protected in the western highlands of Guatemala. The Finca Chiblac salamander (Bradytriton silus), and the long-limbed salamander (Nyctanolis pernix) were discovered in the 1970s and recognised as essential links in the evolutionary tree of new world tropical salamanders.

Call for applications - conservation funding
The 2016 Conservation Leadership Programme (CLP) Conservation Team Awards is open for applications from early-career conservation professionals. The programme offers awards, training and support to those working in high-priority areas.

Natural History Heroes
This month BBC Radio 4 has been running a series of short episodes in which contemporary natural scientists introduce a historical figure as their Natural History Hero. The intriguing series includes some lesser known figures in the history of science as well as big names like Alfred Russel Wallace. Not to be missed.
