Standard Shipping

Standard shipping is an efficient, secure and economical service. Orders with standard shipping are delivered by Royal Mail in the UK, and national post companies in other countries. International orders are sent by airmail. Please note that orders sent by standard shipping do not include a tracking number; if you require traceable shipping, please choose express shipping. Orders placed with standard shipping which exceed a certain weight or value may be sent with DPD or Parcelforce instead.

Express Shipping

For urgent and traceable delivery, we can send your order by courier, airmail, air freight or by an international carrier. Please ask Customer Services if you would like more information or a quote for a particular destination.

When choosing our express service someone will need to be present at your address to sign for your package. For parcels sent by DPD you will have the possibility of requesting it to be left in a safe place or to be delivered to a pick-up shop. Pick-up shops are available in Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxemburg, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden Switzerland and UK. We cannot send express deliveries to PO boxes in any countries other than Bahrain, Kuwait, Libya, Qatar, Oman, Saudi Arabia or United Arab Emirates.

The NHBS shopping basket will calculate the express shipping charge where possible. In cases where the express shipping charge cannot be calculated automatically, such as for delivery addresses outside of Europe, US and Canada, we will advise you of the actual cost by email. Alternatively, if you would like a quote for express delivery before placing your order please contact Customer Services. All items that are in stock at the time an express order is placed will be dispatched the same day, provided the order is received before 2pm (or 12pm for Schwegler products). We dispatch to all destinations from Monday to Friday (excluding bank holidays).

How long will my order take to arrive?

We aim to process all orders within 1 working day of receipt although this may be slightly longer during busy periods. We will attempt to dispatch your order as soon as possible thereafter. We hold a huge number of products in stock so can usually dispatch orders very rapidly. However, some orders will take longer to arrive if the items are out of stock. All in-stock items on express orders received by 2pm Monday to Friday (or 12pm for Schwegler products) will be sent the same day.

If an out of stock item can be sourced from within the UK or is manufactured by NHBS, it will usually be ready to dispatch within a few days. If the supplier is based outside of the UK, the time it takes to source the item will be longer. For a delivery time estimate specific to your order, please contact Customer Services.

If a product you require is out of stock, you will be informed of this by email when your order is processed. As soon as the item arrives at our warehouse, it will be dispatched and you will receive a dispatch notification via email. Your credit card will not be charged until the day of dispatch.

Following the dispatch of your order, delivery times are dependent on factors such as your country of residence and shipping method.

Which carriers do you use?

We use Royal Mail, DPD and Parcelforce for dispatches made from our warehouse. We choose the carrier based on the shipping method chosen (if express is chosen, the goods will be sent with DPD or Parcelforce), and may upgrade certain dispatches from Royal Mail to a courier, depending on the weight or value of the goods dispatched. In the UK, deliveries are made under the terms and conditions of Royal Mail, DPD and Parcelforce. International dispatches sent by Royal Mail and Parcelforce will be delivered by the national postal service of the delivery country.

Will I have to pay import duties/charges?

When ordering goods for delivery outside of the European Union, you may be subject to import duties and taxes which are levied once the package reaches your country. Any additional charges for customs clearance are the responsibility of the customer. Customs policies vary widely from country to country, so you should contact your local customs office for further information with regard to your order with NHBS.

My order hasn't arrived in the estimated time, where is it?

If your order hasn’t arrived within the estimated time, contact Customer Services and we will make every effort to locate it for you. If goods are lost in transit NHBS will attempt to trace them and will replace them if necessary.

What does NHBS do to protect orders from damage in transit?

All orders are carefully checked and packed by our experienced and professional dispatch team. If you have special packing requirements or would like to provide any delivery instructions, please provide details in the 'Comments' field of the checkout or contact Customer Services.

Can I collect my order from your warehouse?

We welcome any customers who wish to collect their order from the NHBS warehouse. Please note that we are not an open shop, and offer no browsing facilities. However, if you wish to place an order for collection, please state this when placing your order so we can have it ready for you and remove the shipping cost from your order.

If you wish to inspect items first before ordering them, please let us know and we will be happy to assist you. Please provide us with a list of items that you would like to see and the date and time that you will be visiting, and we will make sure that someone is available to help you.
